# Long recordings and meetings

> Record up to 2 hours per note on Starter and Pro, keep recording in the background, and recover a recording if the app is closed unexpectedly.

Mumble Note is built for a two-hour meeting as much as for a ten-second thought. This page covers what to expect from a long recording.

## How long you can record

* **Free**: up to 2 minutes per note, and 60 minutes of voice per month.
* **Starter**: up to 2 hours per note, and 3,000 minutes per month.
* **Pro**: up to 2 hours per note, unlimited minutes.

The recorder shows elapsed time against the limit, for example `00:14 / 02:00`. When a recording reaches the limit it is submitted automatically, so nothing you said is lost, and Mumble tells you what happened. [Compare plans](/note/plans)

## Recording in the background

You can lock your phone or switch to another app while recording. A live activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island shows **Listening…** while it runs. Tap the pause button in the recorder to pause, and tap again to resume.

## If the app is closed while recording

Mumble saves your audio to your phone as you speak, a few seconds at a time. If the app is closed unexpectedly mid-recording, the next time you open Mumble the recorder reopens paused, with the audio intact, and says **Your recording was interrupted and saved. Resume or send it when you’re ready.** Tap resume to keep going, or send it as it is.

If you had already sent the recording and the write-up did not finish, Mumble retries it for you on the next launch. Nothing to do.

## Listening back

Every voice note keeps its audio. Open the note and use the player on the transcript card to play, pause, and scrub. Audio stays with the note on your phone and in your account. Notes can be shared or copied as text; the audio file itself cannot be exported from the app.
