The Mumble Note watch app is a recorder. Raise your wrist, tap, talk, and the note is written up and waiting on your iPhone. It needs no phone in your pocket while you record.

Set up

  1. Install Mumble Note on your iPhone and sign in.
  2. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Mumble Note from the Available Apps list, or let it install automatically.
  3. Open Mumble Note on your iPhone once so the watch can pick up your account. Until then the watch shows iPhone Synchronization Needed.
  4. If the watch asks for microphone access, grant it to Mumble in your iPhone’s Settings.

Record a note

  • Tap anywhere on the watch screen. Recording starts right away.
  • While recording you see the elapsed time, a waveform, and a pause button. Tap it to pause and again to resume.
  • Swipe through the tags above the button to label the note: Quick Note, Idea, Task, or Meeting. Task notes get their to-dos pulled out; Meeting notes get a meeting-style write-up.
  • Tap Done to send it.
Leaving the recording screen without tapping Done discards the recording.

Record from your watch face

The fastest way in is a shortcut on the watch face itself. Mumble Note offers a New Audio complication: one tap and you are recording, without opening the app first.
  1. Press and hold your watch face, then tap Edit.
  2. Swipe to the Complications screen and tap the slot you want to use. Circular and corner slots both work.
  3. Scroll to Mumble Note and choose New Audio.
  4. Press the Digital Crown to save.
From then on, tap that spot on the watch face to start a recording immediately. You can also record with the app in the Dock or on a Smart Stack widget the way you would any other app.

Where the note goes

The watch does not write the note itself. It sends the audio to Mumble, and the finished note appears on your iPhone, in the same place as notes you record there, usually within a minute. Notes are not listed on the watch; the watch home screen only shows how many you have made today. If the watch has no connection when you finish, the recording is kept and sent automatically as soon as it can be. The home screen tells you what is happening: Preparing to sync, syncing, or will retry automatically. If it says Open Mumble on iPhone to sync, open the iPhone app once and the upload continues.

Limits

Recording length on the watch follows your plan: up to 2 minutes per note on Free, up to 2 hours on Starter and Pro. Monthly voice minutes are shared with the iPhone app. When you hit a limit, the watch explains and keeps what you already recorded. Compare plans
