Most problems come down to the connection, a plan limit, or signing in with a different account than last time. Start with the match below.

The note is stuck or says try again later

Your audio is safe. Mumble saves the recording on your phone before it uploads, so a note that shows Your audio is safely stored locally just has not been written up yet.
  1. Check that your phone has a working connection. Open a web page to be sure.
  2. Open the note and tap Retry. Mumble uploads the audio again and writes the note.
  3. If it fails again with a working connection, Mumble’s service may be catching up. Give it a few minutes and retry. Mumble also retries interrupted write-ups on its own the next time you open the app.
If a note stays stuck for more than an hour on a good connection, email [email protected] with the date and length of the recording and we will recover it from our side.

A recording was interrupted

If the app was closed while you were recording, the next launch reopens the recorder paused with a message saying the recording was saved. Tap resume to keep going, or send it as it is. Nothing you said before the interruption is lost. Long recordings

I hit a limit

Each plan has a longest recording, a monthly voice allowance, and a monthly allowance of advanced AI tools. When you reach one, Mumble says which, keeps what you recorded, and offers the upgrade. Text notes are never limited. Check what is left under Settings, at the top. Monthly allowances reset on the first of the month. Compare plans

My purchase failed

  • Purchase failed, with no other detail, usually means the App Store sheet was dismissed or the payment was declined. Check the payment method under your Apple ID and try again.
  • Purchase pending verification means Apple confirmed the payment but Mumble could not verify it yet. Wait a minute and reopen the app; Mumble retries on its own. If your plan is still not active after an hour, email us.
  • Sign back in to finish means you changed accounts while the purchase was being verified. Sign in with the account that started the purchase.
  • Subscription already linked means this subscription belongs to another Mumble account, usually your own under the other sign-in method. See the next section.
If the App Store says you are already subscribed but Mumble shows Free, see below.

My subscription is missing after signing in

You are probably signed in with the other method. Apple and Google sign-in are separate accounts, and a subscription stays with the account that bought it. Sign out under Settings and sign back in with the other button; the plan returns within a few seconds. If you want the subscription moved to the account you use now, email [email protected] from either account. Do not buy it again. Manage your subscription

The Apple Watch app will not record or sync

  • iPhone Synchronization Needed: open Mumble Note on your iPhone once, then try again. The watch borrows your sign-in from the phone.
  • Microphone Access Needed: allow the microphone for Mumble Note in your iPhone’s Settings.
  • will retry automatically or couldn’t sync on the watch home screen: the recording is saved on the watch and is sent when it has a connection. Bring the phone nearby or connect the watch to Wi-Fi. If it still says it cannot sync after an hour, email us. Apple Watch

Notifications never arrive

Open Settings > Notifications in Mumble. If a System notifications row is at the top, iOS is blocking them: tap it and allow Mumble Note. Then check that All notifications and the kind you want are on. Notifications

Recording does not start

Mumble needs the microphone. Open your iPhone’s Settings > Apps > Mumble Note and turn on Microphone. If another app is using the microphone, such as a call, end it first.

Updating the app

Settings > Check for Updates shows your version and tells you if a newer one is out. Updates come from the App Store. What’s new
Still stuck? Email [email protected]. We read every one of them.
